Biography: Dr. Shailendra K. Mandal is an architect, city planner, and thought leader in climate-resilient urban planning, currently serving as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture and Planning at the National Institute of Technology Patna, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. A Fulbright Fellow (USA), his work bridges science, policy, and practice at the nexus of urban heat risk, heat-resilient urban planning and governance, urban vegetation, climate change adaptation, and climate-responsive urban planning, with a strong emphasis on locally grounded solutions for climate-vulnerable regions of the Global South. With over two decades of academic, research, and professional experience, Dr. Mandal has played a key role in shaping the City Resilience Strategy for Patna, India, under the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network (ACCCRN) initiative.
